Leek and potato soup has always been a great
favourite of mine, but I especially enjoy my Mum's best leek and potato soup recipe. I made this
website to shareher recipe as
well as lots of others to allow you to make great leek and potato soup.
I personally most enjoy
my soup on a cold winters day
when I could do with a hot meal to warm me up. A soup fulfills this role very well and leek and potato
is especially appropriate since both vegetables are traditional winter
vegetables. I am not a particularly gifted cook, so the idea of making soup myself did not really appeal to
me too much, but when my mum showed me how simple making soups actually was I changed my mind and decided
that it was actually well within my capabilities. All it required was cutting up a few ingredients, mixing
them together and slowly cooking them, so I decided to have a go at it. I am a really not a very good cook
and I can manage this recipe, so I am sure most people reading this will have absolutely no trouble in making
such a simple soup.
As well as how easy the
recipe was I was quite impressesed by how little it cost to make. Leeks and potatoes aren't exactly expensive and
the soup can be made with just a little bit of water and milk which are not exactly pricey either. I know
supermarket soups are pretty good value but I think a homemade version matches it on cost (depending on how much
you pay for vegetables) and maybe even works out cheaper. More importantly than arguing over a few pennies, it is
nice to know what is going into your food, and if you are making it from fresh vegetables you can be pretty
confident that there aren't going to be too many nasty chemicals in there.
I hope you enjoy the
recipe I have provided, as explained it is a pretty basic recipe, so feel free to add your own touches or
preferences to it. Thankyou for reading and I hope you enjoy your soup!
